Click on the Church News link opposite for information on a special charity cruise on the Waverley raising funds for the Vine Trust.
Scots have transformed our lives with visionary thinking. And for every big idea, there was the humblest beginning. In July 2006, Stuart McMahon and David Young from Barony St John's Church, along with 25 other volunteers, went as volunteers with the Vine Trust to Peru and witnessed many sights including the arrival of Amazon Hope 2.
STV commissioned Glasgow Films to produce a captivating new documentary series, Amazon Heartbeat, which follows a group of adventurers, pioneers and medical volunteers working on two medical boats in one of the remotest and hostile parts of the planet, Amazonia.
If you click on the link in the Amazon Heartbeat picture, you will be taken to stv's Amazon Heartbeat microsite, with further information about the documentary series.
Minister's Letter - February 2008
On Sunday January 13th I told the office-bearers and then the congregation that I had decided that the time had come to retire. That afternoon I left for a conference in Crieff. The conference sessions were in the morning and in the evening, and I was speaking at one of them. However the afternoons were free. One afternoon I left Crieff and drove through the Sma' Glen and over the moor to Aberfeldy.
The Guild
The first meeting of 2008 took place on Thursday 17th January in the Church hall. We had a very good turn out and were pleased to welcome several visitors who had joined us for the evening. Our speaker was Dr. Keir Fisher, who is a voluntary guide at the Burrell Museum in Glasgow and he told us a bit about Sir William Burrell and showed us a selection of slides depicting items from most of the areas of the museum. It was a most enjoyable evening and the vote of thanks was proposed by Margaret Darroch.
Sunday School
December, and all the preparations and excitement leading up to Christmas, seems far off now ...
As usual, after much hard work throughout the practices, our young people turned up trumps yet again with their interpretation of our Christmas Play entitled 'The Nativity'. Thanks go to all but a special thank you to Claire Liddell who stood in at the last minute as 'Joseph' due to Scott McIssac being unwell.
