Barony St John's Church, Ardrossan
Sunday School
December, and all the preparations and excitement leading up to Christmas, seems far off now ...
As usual, after much hard work throughout the practices, our young people turned up trumps yet again with their interpretation of our Christmas Play entitled 'The Nativity'. Thanks go to all but a special thank you to Claire Liddell who stood in at the last minute as 'Joseph' due to Scott McIssac being unwell.
Our 'Carols by Candlelight' was well attended. The audience showed their appreciation to the young people for the various songs, carols and musi cal items which were performed. Thanks go to Margaret Wright, our friend from the EU Congregational Church, who accompanied them on the piano; also a big thankyou to Jean Hay and Carol Gilmour, our 'Cinderella's' in the kitchen, without whom we wouldn't have had our lovely supper!
Our outing to the Basebowl in Saltcoats, instead of our traditional Christmas Party, was a great success. Lots of fun and laughter was had throughout the afternoon. The champion was Megan Armstrong with a score of 107 pointsl She received a trophy and certificate at the end of the session. Well done Megan! We hope to have a return match in the near future.
At present we are settling back into our 'Sunday routine'. We have illustrated and discussed the importance of all the characters in the Nativity Story. We also have had a Christmas Quiz - with the boys winning by one point!
We will again be using the Scripture Union resources for the next few months.

Sunday School Christmas Party
This year our Christmas Party was held at the Basebowl in Saltcoats. It took place after our wonderful Nativity Play. When we got there and were given our bowling shoes we got separated up into OUI lanes. At the end of our game of bowling, Megan Armstrong was our winner with 107 points and Miss Aitken was a close second with 105 points. After that we had our lunch. We had a choice of a burger and chips, or chicken nuggets and chips to eat, and orange or blackcurrant to drink. After our lunch we had sweets and cake then, to top off a brilliant afternoon, just before we left we got goodie bags to take home with us.
