Barony St. John's is situated in the seaside town and ferry port of Ardrossan, some 30 miles south west of Glasgow, overlooking the Firth of Clyde to the hills of South Ayrshire, Arran and Ailsa Craig. The Church itself is situated on the corner of Princes Street and Arran Place and overlooks the bay towards Saltcoats.

From Ardrossan you can travel by ferry to the island of Arran, often described as Scotland in miniature. Details of travel to Arran can be found here.

Ardrossan is also well-served by trains with three railway stations (Ardrossan Harbour, Ardrossan Town and Ardrossan South Beach), with frequent services to Largs, Glasgow and Ayr. The local bus company is Stagecoach providing numerous services. Ardrossan is only 20 minutes drive from Glasgow Prestwick International Airport or about 35 minutes from Glasgow Airport.
